Multilayer rustproof varnish for ferrous metal, solvent-based, primer, intermediate and finish, extra durable, for indoor and outdoor use.
Description
Multilayer rustproof paint/varnish (primer, intermediate and finish) solvent-based semi-gloss for ferrous metals, made from a urethane-modified alkyd resin, with a high content of rust-inhibiting pigments. For indoor and outdoor use. Of superior quality, this varnish provides a long-lasting deep protection solution.
Purpose
Suitable for all types of ferrous metals, indoors and outdoors, exposed to heavy use (impacts, weather, frost, etc.), raw or previously painted, such as iron, cast iron and mild steel: steel frameworks, metal door and window frames, railings, grilles, gates, fences, etc. Not suitable for galvanized steel surfaces; in that case, prefer Sinova Non-Ferro Primer followed by a paint or finishing varnish.

Surface preparation
New surfaces, free of rust: Degrease and dust off with White Spirit. Renovation: Remove all rust by scraping or brushing. Dust off. If rust remains after scraping, apply phosphoric acid with a brush, let act, rinse carefully taking all usual precautions and let dry.
Application
On prepared surfaces, apply 2 to 3 coats of Tri-Ferro with a brush or roller, at 24-hour intervals. Thinning: Ready to use. On slightly absorbent surfaces, thin the first coat with 5 to 10% white spirit. Do not thin the following coat(s). Stir well before use and before thinning.
Cleaning of tools
With white spirit, immediately after use.
Finish
Color: white and shades from our color charts achievable with our machines. Appearance: semi-gloss.
Characteristics
Binder: urethane-modified alkyd resin. Pigments: White: zinc phosphate, titanium dioxide and auxiliary mineral pigments. Solvent: aliphatic hydrocarbons. Coverage*: 10 - 12 m²/L on smooth, non-absorbent surfaces. Density: ~1.35 g/ml. Solid content (weight): 68 to 72%. (*) Coverage is calculated based on the work of a professional worker, on a surface with normal absorption, and may vary depending on working method, surface and weather conditions.
Drying time
Touch dry: ~5 hours. Recoatable: ~24 hours. (under conditions of 20°C and 60% relative humidity; drying time will be longer if temperature is lower or humidity higher).
Limitations
Do not apply at temperatures below 5°C. Optimal conditions: above 10°C and relative humidity below 80%.
Storage
At least 12 months in unopened original packaging, in a dry and cool place. Keep protected from frost.
