Primer for non-iron metals and other difficult surfaces, based on acrylic resin in a solvent phase, for indoor and outdoor use.
Description
Solvent-based primer paint, made from acrylic resin, which offers exceptional adhesion even on moderately prepared surfaces. Ideal for application on all types of raw non-iron metals and on surfaces known to be difficult. For indoor and outdoor use.
Purpose
Can be applied on all raw or previously painted indoor and outdoor surfaces: • Non-iron metals: aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, tin, nickel, brass, … • Surfaces known to be difficult: hot-dip galvanized surfaces, pre-painted sheets, plastic materials (hard PVC, plexiglass, …), wall tiles, laminate, … Non-Ferro Primer is not suitable for polystyrene, polyethylene, or polypropylene; prefer Sinova Multiprim+ or Sinova 4 X 4 on these materials.
Properties
- Excellent adhesion on many supports, even those considered "difficult".
- Very fast drying.
- High opacity power.
- Very good weather resistance.
Surface preparation
Degrease, dull, and dust off. If the surface is in poor condition, remove non-adherent parts or substances harmful to adhesion by brushing, scraping, and/or washing.
Application
On prepared surface, apply one coat of Non-Ferro Primer with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Dilution: Ready to use for brush or roller application. For airless spray gun, dilute with 5 to 6% cellulose thinner. Stir well before use and before dilution. Recommended finishing coats: 2 coats of a solvent-based varnish such as Sinova Trilak Alkyd, or 2 coats of an acrylic finish such as Sinova Wood-Pro PU Satin, or ElastoFlex-Expert or 4 X 4. In the case of an acrylic finish, allow Sinova Non-Ferro Primer to dry for 72 hours before applying finishing coats.
Cleaning of equipment
With white spirit, immediately after use.
Finish
Colour: white. Adding colourants may harm adhesion. Appearance: semi-gloss.
Characteristics
Binder: acrylic resin. Pigments: titanium dioxide, corrosion inhibitors, and auxiliary mineral pigments. Solvent: aromatic hydrocarbons. Coverage*: 8 - 10 m²/L on smooth and non-absorbent surface. Density: ~1.21 g/ml. Dry extract (weight): 53 to 57%. (*) Coverage is calculated based on the work of a professional craftsman, on a surface with normal absorption, and may vary depending on the working method, surface, and weather conditions.
Drying time
Touch dry: ~1 hour. Recoatable: ~5 hours. (under conditions of 20°C and 60% relative humidity; drying time will be longer if temperature is lower or humidity higher).
Limitations
Do not apply at temperatures below 5°C. Optimal conditions: above 10°C and relative humidity below 80%.
Storage
At least 12 months in unopened original packaging, stored in a dry and cool place. Keep from freezing.
