How to care for a semi-solid wood floor?

Caring for a solid wood floor, key points to remember.

The first point is to know whether your solid wood floor is oiled, waxed, or sealed.

1. Oiled solid wood floor

Wood floor oil deeply protects your wooden floors. Oiled floors require care 2 to 3 times a year by applying maintenance oil over the entire wooden floor. For more regular upkeep, use soaps made for oiled floors to maintain it for a longer time.

2. Waxed solid wood floor

Regular care with a vacuum cleaner or a microfiber broom is enough to maintain a waxed floor. In case of a stain, blot up the excess of the stain. Then apply a few drops of linseed oil with a cloth and let it soak in. Finish by brushing your floor with some white wax mixed with a few drops of linseed oil. However, a waxed floor is quite delicate, stains on contact with water, and can be very slippery. To remove stubborn or water stains, you must sand, dust, and let dry, then apply another layer of wax. To apply it, start in a corner of the room and work towards the exit. After application and drying, you can polish the floor.

3. Sealed floor

Care for sealed floors is much simpler than the other two protection methods. First, wash your floors with a soap made especially for varnished or sealed floors. The protection is supposed to last several years without special care. If you notice your floor losing its shine, there are polishes to revive the color and remove fine scratches on your sealed wooden floor.
